Adult Autism and ADHD Assessment

For clients located in California

Are you wondering whether you might be autistic, ADHD, or AuDHD? Perhaps you’ve listened to podcasts, read books, followed neurodivergent creators online, or taken self-screening questionnaires and found yourself deeply relating to what you’ve learned.

Many adults spend years feeling different without fully understanding why. You may have struggled with attention, organization, sensory sensitivities, social interactions, chronic overwhelm, burnout, masking, or a sense that you are working much harder than others just to navigate everyday life. You may have even participated in therapy before and felt that something important was missing from the conversation.

An Autism or ADHD assessment can provide a neurodiversity-affirming framework for understanding these experiences. Rather than focusing on deficits, the assessment process helps identify patterns, strengths, challenges, and support needs that may have been present throughout your life. For many people, gaining this understanding is an important step toward greater self-acceptance, self-advocacy, and creating a life that works with their neurotype rather than against it.

All assessments begin with a complimentary 15-minute consultation to determine whether an assessment is the right next step and which option best fits your needs. Following the consultation, you will receive intake paperwork and questionnaires to complete before the assessment.

  • Option 1: Assessment + Diagnostic Report
    • Two X 2-hour virtual assessment sessions via Zoom, followed by review and compilation of findings into a comprehensive diagnostic report.
    • Fee: $1,200
  • Option 2: Assessment Through Short-Term Therapy
    • Assessment integrated into 6–8 therapy sessions at my regular session rate, allowing for deeper exploration, reflection, and understanding of your unique neurotype within a supportive therapeutic relationship. Many clients find the opportunity to process insights and next steps over time to be just as valuable as the assessment itself. A written report is optional and available for an additional $200.
  • Comprehensive clinical interviews
  • Developmental and life history review
  • Standardized screening measures
  • Exploration of strengths, challenges, and support needs
  • Discussion of masking, burnout, sensory experiences, and relationships
  • Review of relevant records when available
  • Collaboration with family members, friends, or partners when appropriate and desired

An assessment can help you:

  • Better understand yourself through a neurodiversity-affirming lens
  • Identify strengths as well as areas of challenge
  • Make sense of lifelong patterns and experiences
  • Develop strategies that work with your brain and nervous system rather than against it
  • Increase self-advocacy and self-compassion
  • Inform future therapy goals and support needs

Some clients appreciate having a written report that summarizes assessment findings and recommendations, while others simply want the clarity and insight gained through the assessment process. A written report is included in Option 1 and available in Option 2 for an additional $200 fee. If you do not need a formal report, that is completely okay—the assessment conversations themselves are often the most valuable part of the process.

Assessments conducted by a master’s-level clinician are intended for diagnostic clarification, personal understanding, and treatment planning.

These assessments are not comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations. Some schools, employers, disability programs, government agencies, or legal systems may require evaluations completed by a psychologist, psychiatrist, or neuropsychologist. If you are seeking accommodations, disability benefits, or legal documentation, please verify the requirements of the organization requesting the evaluation.

Many clients find that the assessment process provides the clarity and understanding they were seeking. Others choose to continue therapy to further explore identity, relationships, burnout recovery, executive functioning, self-acceptance, or life transitions. If desired and space is available, there may be an opportunity to continue working together beyond the assessment process. I also provide individualized resources and referrals to support your ongoing journey.
